As they prepared for an 18-month long world tour, Metallica needed to find a new way to connect with fans on many levels. Black Sun designed the band an app to be the ultimate mobile channel to showcase Metallica’s tour, news, music audio/video, products, social and other relevant content pertaining to Metallica’s brand.
Released in conjunction with Metallica’s WorldWired Tour in May 2017, the app’s features primarily focus on addressing the needs of the tour – you can buy tickets and VIP packages, checkout set lists, videos and photos after each show. But there is a still lot of room for this app to evolve even after the tour. With Black Sun’s scripting technology, new features can be added to the app in real time and our custom CMS allows Metallica’s team to upload content directly into the app.
